[sf-html5] February Announcements

Hi SFHTML5ers-

We’re a wee bit early on our February announcements. Thanks to all who completed our 2013 survey. If you haven’t seen the results, definitely check them out. We also just had our 2014 kick-off event “All About WebGL.” Check out the recordings, slides, and photos.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, at 9 a.m. PST) is Part 3 of Udacity CS256 Mobile Web Dev Office Hours. Check it out online!

Our next SFHTML5 event will be on 25 February 2014 (note that it is a Tuesday). We are pleased to have Darcy Clarke speak on Web design, and are securing our second speaker. Stay tuned for the event announcement and sign up quickly, as this will surely sell out fast.

This Week:

Greg Rewis (former Adobe Evangelist and now Developer Evangelist at Apigee) is hosting three free API & Mobile App workshops in San Francisco and Berkeley. This hands-on workshop will have you building a mobile app with HTML5, Javascript, PhoneGap and APIs for iOS and/or Android in a single day!

Attendance is 100% free and all the software used in the class is open-source. Oh, and he’s also providing lunch and beers afterwards! It’s a day of fun, learning and absolutely, positively, no sales pitches. It all kicks off at 9am and runs until 4:30’ish.

Register at: http://apigee-workshop.eventbrite.com?s=21342241 and http://apigee-workshop.eventbrite.com?s=21420387 for the SF dates, and http://apigee-workshop.eventbrite.com?s=21342359 for the date in Berkeley.

Upcoming Events:

  • HTML5DevConf returns to San Francisco on 19-23 May 2014. Call for Speakers is now OPEN and runs until 24 February 2014.

  • O’Reilly Fluent starts on 11 March 2014. Register using discount code SFHTML5 for 20% off the ticket price.

Special Sponsor Announcement:

Kaazing is looking to double its size this year, and is looking for client-side engineers (JavaScript, Java, mobile, hybrid) and server engineers, as well as product managers, sales people, and developer advocates. Check out their careers page!

Hope to see you at these events!

Cheers

-Vanessa.
